Juka's Organic Co.
was established in 2008 by Juka Ceesay. After owning an African food
market in the City of Los Angeles for a couple of years, Juka

Red
palm oil is one of the latest superfoods that have those who are health
oriented in our society or within the natural health community talking.
In the midst of breaking through the myth that all saturated fat is
bad, we are now more willing and eager in fact, to consider tropical
oils like red palm oil, which is primarily saturated fat based. The
miraculous health claims and nutritious benefits are competing for our
attention.
Palm
oil is an edible vegetable oil derived from the fruit of the oil palms.
It is estimated that tropical oils, like red palm oil and coconut oil
have been safely used for the past 3,000 to 5,000 years. The oil comes
mainly from the African oil palm, Elaeis guineensis, which is native to
that region.
Virgin
Red Palm Oil is palm oil that is traditionally made and maintains the
natural nutrients of carotenes (precursors to Vitamin A) and the
antioxidant tocotrienols (Vitamin E). Typical RBD (Refined, Bleached,
and Deodorized) palm oil has these nutrients stripped from them
resulting in a clear oil. In its natural state, palm oil is red in color
due to a high concentration of carotenes and tocols. Palm oil comes
from a tropical palm tree (elaeis guineensis - NOT the same as coconut
palm trees), which is native to the tropical areas of Africa, where it
grows wild. It is traditional oil used for more than 5000 years in
African countries, where small-scale family farms flourish
